How the cost is calculated
- Material = weight ÷ 1000 × price per kg.
- Electricity = power (W) ÷ 1000 × print hours × price per kWh.
- Machine wear = print hours × wear per hour.
- Total cost = (material + electricity + wear + labor) ÷ (1 − failure rate). The difference covers prints that fail.
- Suggested price = total cost × markup.
Without a print time you only get the material cost: time is never assumed to be zero. The default electricity price (0.18 USD per kWh) is the US residential average; 100 W is a typical average draw for current Bambu Lab printers while printing PLA. Your saved prices stay in this browser only.
Estimating weight from a 3MF
After converting a plate on the 3MF to STL converter, use “Estimate cost for this plate”. If the 3MF was sliced before saving, its weight and time are used. Otherwise the weight is estimated from the plate’s volume: walls are counted as solid and the inside at your infill ratio.
